The machine is sponsored by UNINETT and the Center for information technology services (USIT, Universitetets Senter for InformasjonsTeknologi), University of Oslo (UiO). UNINETT, The Norwegian research network, sponsors the two gigabit connectivity to the UNINETT-backbone. Software is maintaned by volunteers from both the university and UNINETT, both active and former students and employees participate.
